Glass candy

Equipment

  • candy thermometer
  • heavy pot
  • wooden spoon with long handle
  • oven mitts
  • parchment paper
  • 10x15 cookie sheet with edges
  • gallon zip lock bag
  • measuring cups

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cups cold water
  • 3/4 cups light corn syrup
  • 1 dash salt
  • 4 drops food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp flavored oil
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, add the sugar, water and salt. Stir together. Over medium heat while stirring to dissolve the sugar, bring the mixture to a boil. STOP STIRRING. Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pot. Let the mixture boil until the temperature reaches hard crack stage. 300 degrees. Remove from heat. Add your flavoring and food coloring. Stir carefully until combined . Pour candy onto prepared pan. Let cool at room temperature until hardened. Place the cooled cookie sheet on the counter, with a heavy spoon, hit the candy. Break the pieced until desired sized.
    Put the broken pieced into the ziplock bag. Add the powered sugar. Shake until coated. Stored in a sealed container.
