Local flower power ( week 8)

What do I mean by local flower power? 80% of the flowers that you buy in the United States are grown in other countries. A lot of these flowers are heavily treated with chemicals so they can make the long trip overseas. That being said there is a movement called “slow flowers” that is underway here in the United States. So support your local growers.

This will be my second year selling flowers at The Twin Cities Flower Exchange. This is where you can buy a buyers pass and have access to a huge variety of locally grown chemical free flowers. Buyer membership for 2019 was up 40% then the previous year. As of now, The TCFE is not open to the public but it does offer DIY bride buckets. Click on the link above for more details.

Another way to get locally grown flowers is at your farmers market. Be sure to ask your flower seller questions about their flowers. I bet they would love to share. Stop by and see me at the Delano Farmers Market this season.

I am going to try and get my landscaping in some what order this year.

Working on my dream gardens….on paper that is.  Stayed tuned for more on this.

What do you think of Iris’s?  For some reason I have fallen in love with them. Does that mean I am getting old?
